Early Vermont Postcards Collection

Among the many historical items in Middlebury College's Vermont Collection are over 1,100 photographic postcards from depicting landscapes, structures, disasters, and daily life in early 20th Century Vermont. Many of Vermont's towns and villages are represented in the collection, and we are proud to share digitized versions of these important historic images via the Internet Archive. Title supplied by cataloger Train wreck in Bolton on March 11, 1924. The Boston and Maine Express derailed due to a broken rail at 4:40 am. The engineer was Harry Palmer and the locomotive was #232.
